NARS Cosmetics Collaborates with Andy Warhol Foundation

Seems like everyone is jumping on the Andy Warhol collaboration bandwagon lately — but who better to rely on in a post-recession economy than the king of conspicuous consumption?

NARS Cosmetics is the latest company to join forces with the Pop artist’s foundation. They have unveiled the NARS Andy Warhol Collection, intending to release it in two installments on October 1 and November 1.

The collection includes shadows, lip glosses and nail polishes that are rooted in Andy Warhol’s color palette. Many of the products are named after people associated with Warhol’s entourage, including Penny Arcade and Viva while gift sets as homages to Debbie Harry and Edie Sedgwick will accompany certain purchases.

François Nars, makeup artist and founder of the company, spoke to WWD regarding the collaboration and his admiration for the artist:

“His artistic point of view has always been so informative in my career as a makeup artist and as a photographer. Beyond that, I like to think there’s always been a connection between us. His sense of humor, and the way he approached art, is something I think we share.”

The makeup will be initially available at Sephora, then at other outlets by November 1.
