YesYesNo Will Create the World’s Longest Work of Art

Tags: , , , ,

YesYesNo, a New York-based interactive collective that specializes in “engaging, magical installations,” will create the world’s longest work of art when it installs 450 balloons and thousands of light-emitting diodes along 2,000-year-old Hadrian’s Wall in Northern England.

To execute Connecting Light, the artists collective will tether weather balloons along the 73 miles of wall– balloons that will “communicate” with one another via a network of lights. Visitors will be able to submit messages that will be transmitted from the balloons via light in a modernized type of Morse Code.

The installation is part of London 2012 Festival, a 3-month festival consisting of over 12,000 events cross-country to correspond with the London Olympics.

Connecting Light will take place on the nights of August 31 and September 1.
