A diptych of Nena von Schlebrügge– the mother of actress Uma Thurman– shot by famed photographer Norman Parkinson will go up for sale at Christie’s, where it is expected to fetch between £3,000 – 4,000.
The photographs, titled “Coming and Going,” show a 17-year-old von Schlebrügge in a narrow alleyway near St. Martin’s Lane in London, modeling one of Yves Saint Laurent‘s first collections for Dior (left) and a coat by Estrava (right). They were featured in a 1958 issue of Vogue Magazine.
Mexico-born Von Schlebrügge was discovered by Parkinson in Sweden at the age of 14. She later became one of the most famous models of the 1960s, posing for William Klein, Melvin Sokolsky and Richard Avedon.
The diptych will go up for auction on September 3 at “The London Sale” at Christie’s South Kensington.
