Elad Lassry’s High Line Billboard Unveiled on August 1

Tags: , , ,

Cecilia Alemani became director & curator of High Line Art in October, commissioning site-specific work from different artists for the billboard at the corner of W 18th and 8th Avenue. Thus far, John BaldessariAnne Collier, David Shrigley and Maurizio Cattelan have contributed to the project.

On August 1, the High Line will unveil its 5th commissioned contribution from artist Elad Lassry. The 75 x 25 foot billboard will be quite a deviation for Lassry, who usually produces photographs of 11 x 14 inches. The work will feature two head shots of women juxtaposed against a bright monochromatic background — a composition often seen in Lassry’s work.

The High Line gets some 500,000 visitors every month, meaning that Lassry’s billboard could be seen more than any of his previous shows, including a solo exhibition at the Whitney in 2009.
