Leon Black Commissions an Ellsworth Kelly for Dartmouth

After blowing up yesterday’s art world after his identity was revealed as the $120 million “The Scream” purchaser, Leon Black‘s name is again gracing the news: this time, however, for a donation.
Mr. Black has commissioned a site-specific work by Ellsworth Kelly to be hung on the walls of the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College, his alma mater.
The installation consists of five panels in the iconic style of Kelly, with bright monochromes and clean lines. It hangs across the way from the Black Family Visual Arts Center, a $48 million project donated by Mr. Black and his wife, Debra, in March of this year. The center will open in September 2012.
