Upcoming Exhibition: Paris Gallery Attempts German Expressionism
Tags: Modern Art, Paris, Upcoming Exhibitions
Paris gallery La Pinocathèque, a privately-funded, commercial art gallery that has been met with unfriendliness from the Parisian art world since its opening in 2007– both for its unconventional shows and arguably failed attempts at presenting them– is once again ruffling feathers with an exhibition on German Expressionism.
Expressionismus & Expressoinismi showcases works by Die Brücke and Der Blaue Reiter, two German art movements that took place in the first two decades of the 20th century. While certain critics have challenged the strength, and even accuracy, of the assertions made by the gallery, few can deny the quality of the works displayed, which include pieces by Kirchner, Emil Nolde, Kandinsky, Franz Marc and Jawlensky.
The exhibition runs through 11 March 2012.
