I cannot praise Christie’s enough for its expansion into social media. In an era in which the Internet is causing dictatorial regimes to fall, the auction house has aptly recognized social media’s power and its potential role in the growth of the company’s name and, theoretically, its profits. I particularly swoon for its recently launched Tumblr account, which it uses to showcase upcoming auctions with enticing imagery in a simple yet elegant layout. Until the other auctions follow suit, Christie’s can enjoy a leg-up in reaching new eyes and ideally penetrating new markets.
